DELICIOUS LITTLE TOKYO — Culinary adventures, including libation-centric events, await you at this all-weekend-event in one of DTLA’s most iconic neighborhoods. Starting tonight, you can pick up a Delicious passport for discounts at various Little Tokyo establishments.  Saturday  events include historical/culinary walking tours, an Obon temple festival  that ends with a free beer, and the Kanpei! Food and Drink Crawl  for happy hour specials; Shochu Night in Little Tokyo is included in the crawl but you can attend it separately.  Sunday offerings include Saturday’s cultural events, a participatory art mural and There Is a New World Somewhere by Li Lu. Why:  Culture, shochu, sake, highballs and more at one of L.A.’s most walkable and Metro-friendly ‘hoods.


Tiki Night 2016


TIKI NIGHT 2016 — Slip on a lei, sip tropical drinks and trade those dry Southern California winds for balmy South Pacific breezes…on the big screen at least.  Hosted by the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood, your ticket to Saturday’s celebration of all things South Seas includes a screening of South Pacific, entertainment by King Kukulele and his Friki Tikis as well as the Polynesian Paradise Dancers,  an Iconic Atomic fashion show and admission to the vendor marketplace, and one drink (alcoholic or virgin) created especially for Tiki Night 2016 by Marie King of sponsor Tonga Hut.  Food tickets available on site while supplies last.  Why: Bali Ha’i is calling….

SUMMER SODA TASTING 6 — Don’t expect Diet Sprite at this annual event at Galco’s Soda Pop Stop in Highland Park. The international offerings from proprietor John Nese’s astonishing 500+ soft drink inventory include: the extensive line of amazing Australian sodas from Bickford’s; fantastic French sodas from Rieme; sparkling indulgences from Zedazeni, which hails from the Republic of Georgia plus domestic deliciousness from  Bedford’s of Port Angeles, WA.  Additionally, side-by-side challenges will allow sippers to compare brands of black cherry, cream soda and other classic flavors.  Why: Raising money for the venerable Southwest Museum while listening to a Kid’s Burp-Off Contest.
