It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…everywhere you go!

Well, maybe not here at The Go Go.

Looking for less holiday and more fun-day?

Ms. Go Go’s got you covered.

Welcome to the No-Eggnog Zone.

New Kid on the Walk

Go Go’ers, here’s your chance to be part of art history. (Not the classroom kind.)

Mar Vista is debuting its first Art Walk this Thursday and it’s a doozy.

Steppin’ Into the Art of Mar Vista has great bonafides; it was organized by Green Communications Initiative, which produced the oh-so-cool American Trash exhibit, so you know it’s going to be great.

In addition to its own billboard, Steppin’ Into the Art of Mar Vista features three clusters of art awesomeness including:

At Veganics Catering, sample artisanal vegan fare while watching artist Smokin’Bat’s experimental videos rear-projected on glass.

Listen to poets and spoken word artists, both student and adult, at 826LA/TimeTravelMart.

Trunk Gallery is featuring the Toy Train Show: a group show exhibiting works by 23 artists using a toy train set.

A.k.a. The Little Group Show That Could.

Live painting to the accompaniment of live blues, rock, dance and — giving new meaning to the concept of “nude models” — a burlesque show.

That’s going to be one crowded street corner.

STEPPIN’ INTO THE ART OF MAR VISTA — Thurs, Dec 3; 6-9:30pm.  FREE — Venice Blvd between Inglewood Blvd and Beethoven St.  More info HERE.

Jingle All the Way

Secretly craving a little Xmas action but can’t bring yourself to brave the malls?

Head to Old Town Pasadena this Saturday for the Artistanal LA Holiday Market: a FREE, family and pet friendly, European market-inspired outdoor shopping experience featuring 150 artisans and 150 local businesses on three festive blocks.

And yes, it’s a holiday market on Holly Street.

Snap kid and pet photos with Santa, sip hot cider instead of soda and listen to acoustic musicians instead of mall musak while perusing L.A. local and U.S. made clothing, accessories, jewelry, food, home goods, and more.

Holiday gathering on your horizon?  Get on the hostess’s Nice List with a box of Gotta Have S’More treats: an adorable, yet sophisticated update of the childhood campfire classic.  The unique dessert is a guaranteed conversation starter; flavors include chocolate (natch!), peanut butter cup and holiday flavors like candy cane.

Bet you can’t eat just one….

Instead of a celebrity fragrance, make a special someone feel like a star with a Sigil Scent: small-batched, unisex scents sourced from natural ingredients and free of harsh chemicals. “Balance”, for instance, evokes “Sweetly astringent wild meadows, floating with fingertips tingling over blades of grass, singed flowers, and dried tobacco.”

It’s a given you won’t find that at K-Mart.

And for de rigueur holiday self-gifting, look no further than Owl’s Brew’s Tea for Cocktails: lighter, fresher, less sugary mixers. Flavors include The Classic (English Breakfast and citrus); Smoky Earl (custom crafted for the Black Grouse Scotch Whisky); and Christmas Cracker (Lemon Verbena blend created exclusively for West Elm).

Because you’re worth it…

That’s three out of three hundred sellers.  Go Go’ers, Saturday is going to be fun.

ARTISANAL L.A. HOLIDAY MARKET — Sat, Dec 5; 11am – 8pm.  FREE/all ages — 2 – 110 East Holly St, Pasadena, 91105.  Go Metro! Gold Line / Exit Memorial Park   More info HERE.

They’ve performed at The Kennedy Center (with Questlove), The Hollywood Bowl (with John Legend), and The Queen Latifah Show (with Gloria Steinem).

They’re the Get Lit Players and you can support these dynamic, young poets and the Get Lit – Words Ignite organization at The Poetry of Sports: Get Lit’s Fall Gala this Saturday.

Mingle with iconic sports figures including Los Angeles Times sports writer Bill Plaschke, Olympic sprinter Carmelita Jeter, and Dogtown skater Pep Williams.  Hear the Get Lit Players perform original pieces inspired by great moments in sports.  Enjoy lunch and cocktails in the Dodger Dugout. Empower youth to make their voice heard.

Go, poets.
