Here’s how to enjoy your scrubbed-fresh weekend.

Viva Danza

Mexico’s premier choreographer and dancer Tania Salas-Perez and her Compania de Danza shake up the Music Center with all the emotion and surrealism that you’d expect from the land of Kahlo and calaveras.

Based in Mexico City, Perez-Salas’s choreography is memorable for her passion and her eclectic range of musical choices and far-reaching artistic inspirations.

Each work is born from a real-life experience; her shows enthrall with dreamlike imagery, including haunting video projections and lavish props.

Enjoy pre-/post-show talks with members of Compania de Danza at all three of the weekend’s performances; musical selections from Mochilla DJs Brian Cross (B+), Eric Coleman and Azul 213 Amaral will enhance the post-show lounge.

Keep your Tania Perez-Salas ticket for 2-for-1 admission to the feature exhibition, Mexico: Fantastic Identity and permanent collection show, Transformations at the Museum of Latin American Art, Long Beach

Prepare to be amazed.

Everyone else, you’ll want  to scramble to catch up.

Now in its sixth year and now at the Rose Bowl, the signature suds fest features unlimited pours of 100+ craft beers from 65 breweries including Modern Times, Karl Strauss, Ballast Point and El Segundo.

Also available, but NOT included in the ticket price, is flesh-and-dairy-free fare from 40 purveyors including The Rabbit Hole, Doomie’s Home Cookin’ and Bramble Bakeshop.

It wouldn’t be a beer fest without music.

Nic Adler (The Roxy) is co-presenting with Tony Yanow (Tony’s Darts Away/Golden Road Brewery) and vegan blogger QuarryGirl; he’s also curating your Saturday picnic soundtrack, which features Jamestown Revival, The White Buffalo and more.

There are VIP, General Admission and Non-Drinking ticket options and EVERY ticket holder goes home with a commemorative beer glass.

In other words, be the designated driver hero…get a reward.
