Easter approaches and Ms. Go Go presents a classic trifecta of fun:
Oh…were you expecting the Easter trifecta of fun?
“No fiend in hell can match the fury of a disappointed woman.”
The above quote by 17th century bon vivant Colley Cibber basically describes every woman in every film in Noir City: The 17th Annual Festival of Film Noir.
Also, all of the men.
Explore the meanest streets and darkest back alleys of the cinematic psyche with three weeks of film noir at the Egyptian Theater starting tonight with a restored print of Woman on the Run paired with The Unfaithful.
You can bet both those wives are disappointed.
Saturday night’s Humphrey Bogart double feature of Dark Passage and the L.A. premiere of This Last Lonely Place (co-produced by Bogie’s estate) concludes with a free cocktail reception courtesy of Bogart’s Real English Gin.
Future fest highlights include Barbara Stanwyck double features, adaptations of Cornell Woolrich’s masterful crime fiction, noir from Argentina and Great Britain, and a proto-noir mini-marathon.
Best title from the latter? Safe in Hell.
Brush off your fedoras and fascinators for the closing weekend Noir City Party on Saturday, April 18 with booze, bites, gambling, and dancing to Dean Mora’s Swingtet. A screening of The Guilty precedes the party.
Featuring — you guessed it — a disappointed woman….
