Angel City Brewery — Are you more of a thoughtful suds sipper than a green beer guzzler? The monthly “Ale Academy” at everyone’s favorite DTLA brewery is going Irish on the eve o’ St. Paddy’s with a “Slainte!” to Irish styles. For a nominal fee, study up on everything from stout to the modern-day Irish lager and wow your soused friends. Mon, March 16 (7-9 pm)
Drinking Hibernia: Irish Whisky in Cocktail and Song — If you’re still craving a bit o’ the green post-Paddy day, Museum of the American Cocktail‘s Touring the Cocktail program will highlight Pernod Ricard’s Irish Distillers portfolio. Grab your ticket to learn about Jameson, Redbreast, the rare Green Spot, and the even rarer Yellow Spot. Trad Irish music from L.A. folk musicians help bring the Gaelic to General Lee’s in Chinatown. Tom Bergin’s — Tom Bergin celebrates 79 years of St. Paddy’s Days with a 20 hour indoor/outdoor bash!

Tam O’Shanter – The Tam O’ Shanter is one of L.A.’s oldest restaurants and throws one of the biggest — and most schizophrenic! Gaelic bashes in the city. There’s Jameson, kegs of Guinness, and corned beef and cabbage for purists, flashing shamrock necklaces and sugar shamrock cookies for the frat crowd, and Jameson and Guinness girls, in decidedly non-trad outfits, for…well, everyone. Odd But Great St. Patrick’s Day Celebration
St. Patrick Swayze Day at the Greyhound — One of the best and most oddball Gaelic bashes in town — at the Greyhound in Highland Park — features a marathon of Patrick Swayze movies, corned beef cabbage, DJs and specials on Irish Whiskey shots and draft beers from Moylan’s Brewery. No cover and no shaming if you’re dressed head to toe in black instead of green.
