Ms. Go Go knows you’ve probably just been sitting around watching paint dry lately.
Good thing the fun starts early this weekend….
It’s Party Pants Time
If your holiday fun so far has consisted of obligatory fruitcake nibbling and genteel eggnog sipping, get ready to kick over the candy canes and set the manger on fire.
The Grand Ole Echo is throwing a holiday hoedown.
Do-si-do over to the GOE’s Winter Dance Party where Far West, Sam Outlaw, Reverend Baron and Ruby Force will help you forget your mounting seasonal credit card debt and that upcoming three-hour layover in Des Moines
And whether you call Thursday’s bash a “winter dance party”, a “winter formal” or “end-of-year shindig”, you’re invited to bring the parents and Dress To Impress.
Sounds like the hot glue gun and fur pom pom project you’ve been waiting for….
GRAND OLE ECHO — Thurs, Dec 11, 8pm. $8 -$10/18+ — The Echo, 1822 Sunset Blvd, Echo Park/LA 90026. For tix and more info, go HERE.
There Once Was a Fest in a Bar….
Tired of fake snow and fat guys in red suits?

Rhymes both bawdy and clever plus plenty of alcohol to properly appreciate them are the hallmarks of this evening of literary laughs organized by multi-threat creative Jan Michael Alejandro.
Saturday evening’s silver-tongued devils include Jeff Goode, Helen Geller, Jonathan Savell, Steve Wooley, Laurie Buckley, Alastair and Jennifer Boase, Limerick Musical Director Leslie Spring, and YOU if you’re 21 or older and get to Altadena Ale House by 6:30 to sign up for the open mic.
Mistress of Ceremonies Mimi Chen (100.3’s the Sound) will once again be spinning the Wheel of Limericks.
Wonder how many of the wheel’s slots say “Nantucket”?

Xmas in LaLa Land
Want an only-in-L.A. holiday experience?
While the rest of the country freezes, head to California Plaza this Sunday afternoon to sit outside and hear Elvis Schoenberg’s Orchestre Surreal further warp the already-alt music of The Nightmare Before Christmas.
You may want to ward off the chill with a light, leopard-print sweatshirt.
Schoenberg (a.k.a. Ross Wright) and his collection of precision musicians — Keith Emerson is kind of an honorary member — and cult fave singers like The Fabulous Miss Thing (Angela Carole Brown) dare to boldly go where few musical artists have gone before.
In one of the more oddball pairings of the season, Grand Performances and the Omni Hotel are hosting a complimentary cookie decorating party before the Frank Zappa-loving Schoenberg and his merry brand of musical pranksters hit the stage.
In the spirit of the season, put a stiletto on that sugar cookie….
ORCHESTRE SURREAL — Sun, Dec 14; concert at 2pm/cookie party at 1pm. FREE — California Plaza, 350 So Grand Ave, LA 90071. For more info, including directions and parking, go HERE.
