Union Station remains one of L.A.’s most beautiful iconic destinations. (Remember Chinatown?)
Now there’s a reason to visit besides the Metro.
On Thursday, August 21, the bimonthly Whisky & Poetry Salon, which trades guests whisky for words in a 1920’s DTLA loft, debuts their occasional, off-site pop-up — the Whisky & Poetry Traveling Salon — at the gorgeous Art Deco Traxx Bar in Union Station.
As a signature element of the Traveling Salon, cheeky and erudite whisky ambassador Johnnie “the Scot” Mundell will pour four, single malt Scotch whiskies that have been specially paired with the work of four, exciting poets: Annelyse Gelman, Suzanne Lummis, Alyesha Wise and Gail Wronsky.
Guests will sample the whiskies over the course of the evening. In between the poets’ rounds, Johnnie will advise on the finer points of sipping and savoring the “water of life”.

By the end of the evening, you’ll be a convert.
No need for a grab-and-g0 bite beforehand. Reserve your table at Tara Thomas’s delicious Traxx Restaurant.
Eat in the elegant dining room or outside on the grass and tiled plaza, then stroll across the concourse for post-supper whisky and words.
Go Go’ers, it’s good to be an Angeleno.
The Whisky & Poetry Traveling Salon is part of the Writ Large Press/DTLAB‘s #90for90 literary pop-up: that’s 90 events in 90 days…wow.
