This year, there have been a few, 90 degree “false” starts to summer but this weekend is the “unofficial” start of summer.
Go on…enjoy your barely legal season.
The Kings of Cult
Go Go’ers, nothing says summer like movie terror on the cheap and Kings of Cult is a two-night tribute to Roger Corman and Joe Dante: two of the moviemakers who did it best.
A.k.a. two of the guys who kept you white-knuckled and awake when you were a kid.
Tonight, May 23, the New Beverly Cinema presents a double feature of Matinee (1993) and The Masque of Red Death (1964) with comedian Dana Gould interviewing Corman and Dante about Vincent Price, Atomo Vision, Rumble Rama, and Mants (Half-Men! Half-Ants!)
Because you can never know too much about Mants.
Fingers crossed for a Mant suit on display.

Do you focus as much on Game of Thrones fantasy and costumes — when the latter aren’t being ripped by swords — as you do the blood and mayhem?
If so, your alt-world fix awaits this Saturday at the Myth Masquerade Ball.
Moving to the gorgeous Los Angeles Theater for its third ball, the Myth Masque promises “make believe…all grown up”. Expect “spectacular performances, elaborate, themed areas to explore, costumes, dancing, revelry and enchantment.”
Not to mention lots and lots of glitter.
Costumes are mandatory but not to worry if your tried-and-true unicorn costume lost its horn; formal dress with a masque will get you through the gilded doors and into the other magical kingdom.
A hoodie with a unicorn horn will not.
MYTH MASQUERADE BALL — Sat, May 24 @ 8pm. $55 – $1500; 21+ — Los Angeles Theater, 615 Broadway, DTLA 90014. PRESALE ONLY tickets & Info HERE
