Certain denizens of San Francisco — no strangers to the curious, the fantastical, the beautiful and the strange –have adopted cheerily macabre illustrator Edward Gorey as their mascot and muse for the annual, mustn’t-miss Edwardian Ball, now in its eleventh year in the City by the Bay.
Happily, the promoters of the poetic and the steampunk’d are heading South with the performers and the party this Saturday, March 5th to The Music Box (Henry Fonda Theater) in Hollywood.
You’ll want to dress to Edwardian excess.
Highlights of the fin de siecle festivities include performances by “Belle of the Ball”/chanteuse noir Jill Tracy with theremin maestro Armen Ra. Cirque Berzerk lends mayhem and madness to the merriment. And Edwardian Ball co-hosts Rosin Coven and Vau de Vire Society present a piquant production of Edward Gorey’s The Eleventh Episode for your discerning delight.

Contortionists and can can, aerialists and the anachronistic avant-garde, the ballroom and the dance hall, corsets and cutaways, merchants and midway games, and Exquisite Corpse Gaming tables round out the Edwardian evening’s elegant amusements.
And did Ms. Go Go mention the absinthe cocktails?
Ready? U Know U Want 2 Go Go….
