Artful petting plus a Prohibition party

A grand evening at the Warner Grand (Lithograph by Tom Phillips)

Go Go’ers, thanks to lots of TLC and loads of (occasionally) healthy hydration, Ms. Go Go and her damaged digit are in the pink and pining for fun.

Luckily, this weekend, the days are warm and the nights are fan-yourself hot!

Think Thirties – Movie & Cocktail Party at the Warner Grand

Art Weekend L.A.

Saturday is the debut of Art Weekend L.A., the DTLA Art Walk’s bigger, sophisto sister.  Bottom line, think more art, less spilled swill.

Anchored by Downtown’s museum heavyweights and the transplanted Westside L.A. Art Show (expect art, not autos at the Convention Center), the Weekend offers a curated tour of invited galleries with free coffee, Saturday shuttles and free sangria courtesy of sponsors Pitfire Pizza and Francisco’s Coffee.

All of the venues warrant a look but expect crowds at Clive Barker’s show at Bert Green Fine Art, Michael Grecco’s Naked Ambition at Edgard Varela Fine Arts, Sexhibitionists by James Stiles at the DRKRM Gallery, Coffee Talks with Gronk at Art Weekend hub LATC, and Zen Garage, part of Giant Robot and the Japanese American Museum’s Salon Pop series.(Saturday, January 22nd and Sunday, January 23rd from noon to 6 p.m.

Pop in to the Petting Pantry at the Palm Court!

The Petting Pantry at the Palm Court

Expect a full panoply of pulchritude and pie-in-the-face antics this Saturday at the Alexandria Hotel where The Petting Pantry is “wintering” at the plush Palm Court in which  dance great Anna Pavlova performed her “Glow Worm Dance” in 1915.

There’ll be plenty of newfangled wiggling,  lubricated giggling and inspired stringing thanks to burlesque belles Kate Fox, Pri de Beaute and Penny Starr, Jr., vaunted vaudevillians Odious and Puddles, Two Bit Opera, and Mooey Moobau,  and mesmerizing musicians Madame Pamita and AK & Her Kalashnikovs.   Go Go’ers, if you don’t have fun at the Petting Pantry, it’s no one’s fault but your own…!  (The Palm Court at the Alexandria Hotel, 501 South Spring Street, 1st floor, Los Angeles, 90013. $10. 9:30 – 2:00PM; show at 10PM

Hope you and the digit did it up in style this weekend. Alas, I spent my weekend cracking the homework whip.
