Go Go’ers, the first annual Old Pasadena Restaurant Week starts Tuesday, June 1st but there is no evidence of training wheels with the inaugural effort.
Old Pasadena Management is making the event easy peasy simple and delicioso to boot. Contact the 25+ participating, Old Town Pasadena restaurants directly to make rezzies for their three course, prix fixe lunches ($15 and $25) and dinners ($25 and $35). Your dining dollar does good with 10% benefiting the Union Station Homeless Services; the older-than-Old-Town organization has been around for 36 years.
Among the many, many delicious, good-deal dishes at donating dining establishments: Braised Pork Shoulder with kale and oyster mushrooms at Bar Celona; steamed P.E.I. Mussels and House Made Fries at Dish; and Potato Gnocchi with Creamy Wild Forest Mushroom Ragu at Quadrupel Brasserie. Believe Ms. Go Go when she tells you that the apps and dessert choices are equally scrumptious.
If you’re overwhelmed with a wave of Julie Powell-esque cooking fervor after your meal, the Old Town Cooking School is offering “Lunch a la Julia Child”, a June 6th cooking class based on Mastering the Art of French Cooking; the school will also donate a portion of the proceeds to the Union Station Homeless Services.
No hint of whether “Lunch a la Julia Child” will feature leaping lobsters a la Julie Powell….
