Welcome to a different kind of culture, Go Go’ers. If you’re partial to chrome, rubber, radials, and hydraulics, motor over to the Car Show Artists Reception at Howeeduzzit Gallery, which showcases under-the-radar, multi-disciplinary art from emerging and well-known artists.
Inside the gallery, you’ll find “art that relates to the automobile”. Fifteen artists are represented in the group show, which includes work by Pola Lopez, Keef Aura, Schulyer Wrobel, and Kevin Hass (see photo above).
It might take you a while to make your way inside, though. Marcos Garage is sponsoring a one-day-only Car Club Show at Howeeduzzit and you’re bound to be distracted by the classic vehicles on display outside the gallery courtesy of participating car clubs Bang Time, Undertakers Car Club, and Trompers of Eagle Rock. The latter car club has been around since 1945 when Eagle Rock’s hot rod culture flourished along Colorado Boulevard/Route 66. No drag racing is scheduled for the reception…unfortunately.
It won’t cost you a red cent to check out the automotive art inside and outside the gallery but proceeds from the sale of wine, cheese and other goodies will help establish the Peace, Culture and Education Center/Foundation, which sponsors conflict resolution workshops for youth. Do your part, Go Go’ers…drink up for peace.
