Ms. Go Go loves a good pub crawl but the green hats and shamrock decor? Not so much….
If you want to get out on March 17th but avoid the St. Patrick’s Day cliches, check out the following three events:
IRISH, DRINKS, ROWDINESS, CROWDS
Even though Ms. Go Go eschews funny hats, in this offering they’re on the big screen along with the other, usual cliches of St. Patrick’s Day in a special showing of GANGS OF NEW YORK at the ArcLight Theater in Sherman Oaks. And if you must have a beer to help you gaze upon Daniel Day Lewis’s sideburns , the theater also promises St. Patrick’s Day-themed drinks at the Cafe/Bar.

If you prefer your St. Patrick’s Day with a shot glass of wry, check out The Bad Arm: Confessions of a Dodgy Irish Dancer. Billed as “an outrageous antidote to Riverdance“, Maire Clerkin’s one-woman comedy skewers her Irish/English upbringing and includes riffs on binge-drinking, “Wannabe Irish” and adolescent “snogging”. Proceeds from this one night only benefit go to Save the Santa Monica Playhouse Campaign.

Want an Irish-free St. Patrick’s Day? Brad Colerick’s March 17th lineup at his weekly, Wednesday Wine & Song event features the series’ signature focus on Southern California singer/songwriters. This week: SONGS OF SHILOH and MILO. Sit in comfy, leather chairs in the back of Colerick’s South Pasadena WineStyles wine shop, sip vino supplied by the evening’s sponsor Donati Vineyards, listen to lyrical, narrative songwriting and gorgeous vocals, and pretend a certain, Irish saint and his beer-guzzling devotees don’t exist.
